Yoga

Yoga is learning how to calm the mind.  The physical poses of yoga provide an infinite & profound tool for exploring this practice of the mind.

The ancient text The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which lays out the entire practice & theory of yoga, defines yoga as the cessation of mind-modifications.  By mind modifications, Patanjali means all that chatter inside our mind.  So, in other words, yoga is learning how to calm the mind.  The physical part of yoga is one of the ways we practice this control over our mind-chatter.

Learning the physical poses is an easy way to begin a practice of calming and focusing the mind, learning balance in effort and release, and learn to be a caring and empathetic human. â€‹
